The territory where I live is full of spectacular and intimate place of wildlife, and often not so far from the cities. “Acquadulza” is the name of a fount over the little village of Maccagno. Nice place to have a swim into the cold water of river Giona during the hot summer.
La zona dove vivo è ricca di angoli naturali di straordinaria bellezza e intimità, spesso non troppo lontani dalla civiltà. “Acquadulza” è il nome di una fonte situata poco sopra il paesino di Maccagno. Un posto veramente carino per rinfrescarsi con un bagno nelle gelide acque del torrente Giona durante la calura estiva.
With the friend and model Valentina I spent the lunchtime, testing the new portable octobox diffuser and its tri-flash holder.
Assieme all’amica e modella Valentina, ho speso la pausa pranzo testando il nuovo octobox portatile e la sua staffa tripla per lampeggiatori, tri-flash.
The “octo” is a different type of diffuser respect to the Lastolite Ezybox (that I love!), it provide a more directional light and without the diffuser curtains it became a source of very hard light. The union with a tri-flash holder is the perfect solution in order to work outside when the ambient light is very strong, such as the midday of a lunchtime break.
L’octobox è un diffusore diverso dal rettangolare
Lastolite Ezybox e fornisce un’illuminazione molto più direzionale; se poi utilizzato senza le tendine diffusive produce una luce molto dura.
L’unione con la staffa da tre flash lo rende il connubio ideale per lavorare in esterna quando vi sia la necessità di controbilanciare una forte luce ambiente.

In this case I used only two flash inside the Octo, in particular two Canon 430EX, mastered via E-TTL II signal with a Canon 550EX on camera. What frightened me was the permeability of the diffuser curtains of the octo to the infrared signal of TTL. Fortunately everything goes fine and the flashes are able to comunicate each other well.
In questo caso ho utilizzato solamente due flash montati dentro l’octobox, in particolare due Canon 430Ex; comandati via E-TTL II da un Canon 550EX montato a slitta. L’aspetto che mi preoccupava di più era la capacità della tendina di diffusione bianca, di lasciarsi attraversare dal segnale infrarosso del TTL. Fortunatamente tutto ha funzionato a dovere e i flash possono comunicare tra loro senza problemi.

The use of more than one strobe inside the octobox thanks to the tri-holder, leave the flashes to work at a lower power rate and in conseguence stress less the batteries.
Or, in the other hand, give you the power necessary to overburn the natural ambient light
L’uso di più di un lampeggiatore dentro al banco, lascia i flash liberi di lavorare a potenze più basse diminuendo così lo stress a carico delle batterie.
O dall’altro lato, fornisce la potenza necessaria a bilanciare la forte luce ambiente.

As usual Valentina moves within the scene under not easily conditions: cold water and the presence of some spectator were been a little disturbing. So thank you Vale for your patience. Next step would be some shots at twilight in a cross scheme lighting against the sun. So stay tuned and have a good light!!
